On 7 th Feb 2020 Guru Tegh Bahdur Public School, Model Town hosted its Annual Sports Day URJAA on the sprawling grounds of the school. The day was filled with fervour and frolicsome atmosphere. The aim behind hosting the event was to inculcate sportsmanship and fondness of sports in children.
The day began with Principal Mrs Baljeet Kaur welcoming the chief guests Mrs & Mr Sethi. This was followed by felicitation of guests and torch lighting ceremony. Chief Guest also addressed the students with his pearls of wisdom as he discussed about importance of sports in life. The show started off with the lovely rendition by the choir group to pay salutation to god almighty followed by the inter-house march past where highly energised cadets marched together in great synchronisation coupled with some stirring marching music. The day was filled with laughter, energy, zeal and delight as students participated in various activities under the eager eyes of their parents and Mrs & Mr. Sethi who kindly presided over the event as chief guest.
The audience next witnessed various drills performed by junior students along with fun sporty races like mind your steps, balance the ball and dress yourself. For senior student’s sack race, baton relay race and sprint race was organised. The zealous parents, gathered in large numbers constantly applauded the young sporty stars. Highlight of the event was a Taekwondo drill presented by professionals along with school students. Around 300 students gave an enthralling performance on cultural hues of India which put forth an important message of celebrating unity in diversity. Apart from students, Parents and staff members also participated with great verve and zeal in events scheduled for them.
School Principal Mrs Baljeet Kaur conferred on school annual report and appreciated the efforts of students and staff for successful execution of URJAA 2020. School playground rimmed with flags and balloons reverberating with the sound of cheers made everyone’s day. The program ended with prize distribution and vote of thanks.
